Where roofs leak, flashing fixes

The detail that decides whether a roof leaks

Roofs almost never leak in the open field of the shingles – they leak at the transitions, where the roof meets a wall, a chimney, a valley, or a skylight. Flashing is the shaped metal that waterproofs those transitions, and it is only as good as its fit. Our tradesmen fabricate flashing to the exact angles of your roof and install it lapped correctly with the underlayment and shingles, so water is always shed over the roof and never behind it.

Flashing is where most leaks start

If you trace almost any roof leak back to its source, you land at a transition – a chimney, a wall, a valley, a vent. The shingles themselves are rarely the problem. Flashing is the metal that seals those transitions, and getting it right is the difference between a roof that stays dry for decades and one that weeps every heavy rain.

Fabricated for a perfect fit

Our tradesmen fabricate flashing to the actual angles and dimensions of your roof rather than bending a stock piece to sort of fit. A precise fit, lapped correctly with the underlayment and shingles, sheds water the way flashing is supposed to – over the roof surface and away – with no reliance on caulk to cover gaps.

On new roofs and repairs

We fabricate and install flashing both as part of a full re-roof – new metal at every transition, never reused – and as a targeted repair when old or failed flashing is behind a specific leak. Either way, it is the detail we take most seriously, because it is the one that keeps your home dry.

Flashing FAQs

What is flashing and why does it matter?

Flashing is the shaped metal that waterproofs the joints and transitions in a roof – at chimneys, walls, valleys, and penetrations. Since those transitions are where the vast majority of roof leaks start, flashing is arguably the most important detail on the whole roof.

Why custom flashing instead of stock?

Every roof transition has its own angles, and stock flashing rarely matches them exactly. We fabricate flashing to your roof's real geometry so it fits tight and sheds water correctly, rather than forcing a stock piece and sealing the gaps with caulk that fails.

When does flashing need replacing?

When it is rusted, cracked, lifting, or was never installed properly – which we often find behind a recurring leak. Old caulk-and-hope flashing is a frequent culprit. We replace it with fabricated metal that actually solves the leak.

Do you replace flashing during a re-roof?

Yes – a proper re-roof includes new flashing at every transition. Reusing old, tired flashing under new shingles is a common shortcut that leads to leaks, and we do not take it.
